Italian Christmas Cookies

This classic cookie is such a pretty cookie to make. It’s also a fun and easy cookie to make with the kids and to share.

Italian Christmas Cookies

  1. 4 eggs
  2. 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  3. 1 cup of granulated sugar
  4. 1/2 cup butter softened
  5. 4 tsp baking powder
  6. 2 tsp lemon extract (anise or flavor of choice)
  7. Icing
  8. 2 cups confectioner's sugar
  9. 4-8 tsps water (maybe more depending on desired consistency)
  10. sprinkles (if desired)
  1. Preheat oven to 375 F.
  2. Mix flour and baking powder in large bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time until combined and add vanilla.
  4. Slowly incorporate the flour mixture into the butter mixture. Stir until just combined.
  5. Spoon out onto parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
  6. Bake for 8-12 minutes. Remove and let cool.
  7. For icing mix confectioner's sugar and water until you reach the desired consistency.
  8. Dip each cookie into the sugar mixture and place onto a cooling rack. Sprinkle with sprinkles if using.
  9. Enjoy!
