This is a garlic lovers dream salad!
I have to thank my friend Polly for introducing this salad to me. I met her at a quaint restaurant in St. Francisville, Louisiana called Magnolia Cafe. She ordered the Sensation Salad and the aroma alone had my mouth watering.
I have never had sensation salad but I did manage to find some connections to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As far as I can tell, it was created by John Staples and has been a real hit.
It’s typically made with iceberg lettuce but my garden is overflowing with lettuce so it seemed destined that I would use this amazing garlicky dressing over homegrown lettuce.
Delicious garlicky salad recipe from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
- 1/4 cup light vegetable oil of choice
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- juice of half a lemon
- 3-4 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons white distilled vinegar
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups chopped lettuce
- chopped parsley optional
For dressing, place all vegetable oil, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, vinegar, salt, & pepper in a container or jar with a lid. Give it a good shake and place in refrigerator for 24 hours.
Remove dressing from the refrigerator. Place lettuce and parsley in a large bow. Drizzle with desired amount of dressing and toss. Plate and enjoy.
