This is an amazingly delicious and easy dish to make.
Schnitzel is an Austrian/ German dish made from thinly pounded pork or other meats. There are many variations but this is the basic recipe and it’s really easy to do. I’m pretty sure you have all the ingredients on hand.
- 4 pork chops
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2-3 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups bread crumbs
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1/4-1/2 inch of oil for frying
Place a pork chop between two pieces of cling film and gently pound out to thin the meat. Start from the center and work towards the edge. Set aside and repeat with remaining chops.
Using a separate dish for the eggs, flour and bread crumbs, set them up with the flour first, eggs second, and bread crumbs last.
Salt and pepper the chops.
Dredge the chops in the flour, then the egg mixture, and then in the bread crumbs. Feel free to go back to the egg mixture and back into the bread crumbs for extra crunch.
Place a pan on the stovetop and set to medium or medium high heat. Place a 1/4 inch of oil in the pan.
Once the pan oil is hot enough gently lower a few chops in, careful not to overcrowd. When one side is browned, flip over and brown the other side.
Set on a cooling rack to drain and serve.
